Prof Dr Miangul Mahmud Aurangzeb (Urdu:ميانگل محمود اورنگزيب) is a member of the former Royal family of Swat (princely state). He is the youngest head of surgery department of the Khyber Teaching Hospital(KTH) Peshawar. He is known for his skills in the thyroid gland and cancer surgery. Prof Mahmud Aurangzeb is the paternal grandson of the late Wali of Swat (Miangul Jahan Zeb), Gujjar, and the maternal grandson of the late Mohammad Ayub Khan; former President of Pakistan. His father, Miangul Aurangzeb was the governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. Surgeon Mahmud Aurangzeb did FRCS from the Royal College of Surgeons of England, Edinburgh and Glasgow at the age of 27. He was trained at the United Kingdom in surgery. He also attended training courses in the United States, Australia and China. Prof Dr Mahmud Aurangzeb is a specialist of Laparoscopic surgery and has performed over 6000 of such surgeries.〔 He is also the president of Society of Laparoscopic and Endoscopic Surgery (SOLES) of KP chapter, president of the Surgical Oncology Society of Pakistan, KP chapter, President of the Pakistan Society of Surgery, and member of various international surgical societies.
